  • The Special Individualized Programs (SIP) exist to promote innovative and creative approaches to issues that are outside the normal boundaries of investigation of existing graduate programs.
  • Students are engaged in individualized research initiatives supported by integrated programs of study drawing on the various resources available at Concordia University both within a Faculty and across Faculties.
  • In most cases, students applying to SIP must propose a program involving multidisciplinary scholarship on problems that are not normally the province of disciplines represented by departments in this University.

The Special Individualized Programs (SIP) were created by the School of Graduate Studies to provide space within the academy for a limited number of exceptionally capable students with specific research goals. An individualized program of study, SIP provides the possibility for research and graduate studies at both the master’s and doctoral levels in areas not covered by existing graduate programs.

Thinking outside the box, creating new syntheses of knowledge - these are the hallmarks of SIP. There are many stellar researchers at Concordia keen to help you navigate new terrains of scholarship, and a heterogeneous community of over 100 like-minded students to welcome you into their fold.
