Applicants should take note that entry to this program requires a clearly formulated program of study and the identification of a proposed supervisory committee as part of the application. (Doctoral applicants interested in pursuing a degree in interdisciplinary studies in the areas of Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture should apply to the PhD in Humanities Program).
Typically no more than nine students at the master’s level and nine students at the doctoral level are admitted in a given year. The deadline for applications is January 15 for September entry for the following academic year.

Program Proposal:
Letters of intent from at least three potential supervisory committee members, one of whom is designated Principal Supervisor, including their curriculum vitae.

Letter from the Associate Dean of the Faculty to which the Principal Supervisor belongs. This letter should state the Faculty’s approval of the resource implications of the applicant’s proposed program of study. This includes permission to use relevant university facilities such as laboratories, studio space, etc.; it also includes permission to enroll in existing graduate courses or tutorials, subject to the approval of the instructors concerned.
