GPSC 465 Writing Funding Applications - Strategies and Tips

Description

Are your grades in the top percentile of your class? Do you consider yourself a leader? Want to fund your graduate studies? Ever wonder what it takes to be a Trudeau or a Vanier scholar? If you answered YES to these questions, there are funding opportunities waiting for you.

This is your chance to plan ahead and obtain all the information needed to get you started in applying for scholarship /award funding competitions. Tips on how to prepare your application will also be discussed.

Although some awards exclude international students, the strategies discussed could be applied to any funding applications.

In particular, the workshop explores strategies for Masters or Doctoral applications for:

* Provincial/Federal agency-funded (SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, FRQNT, FRQSC, FRSC) competitions
* internal awards
* external funding opportunites

In complement to this workshop, GradProSkills will host a Peer Review Group for funding applications that will continue through-out the spring/summer - meeting once each month in May, June and July. GPSC469

***Workshops in the fall semester will also include presentations by former agency funding committee members and student agency award recipients who will discuss their experiences.

Dolly Grewal, SGS Awards Advisor
Leader Biography:
Dolly Grewal is a Graduate Awards Advisor at Concordia University. Her responsibilities include managing external awards (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, MSFSS, Trudeau, Vanier, Quebec Merit Scholarship, etc). Before joining Concordia, Dolly worked as a Media Analyst at DFAIT and received a Master’s degree in International Development at University of Ottawa.
