GPWL 907 What You Need to Know about Healthy Nutrition

Description

Eating healthfully is associated with numerous benefits that include a reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, obesity and some cancers as well as an enhanced sense of well-being. It is also much better for the environment. Despite the abundance of easily accessible information on nutrition, many people remain confused about the best way to eat for overall health.

In this workshop participants will discover what a healthy diet looks like: which foods to eat more often, which foods to eat less often, how much to eat, when to eat etc.. They will also develop/enhance nutrition related skills such as reading a food label or planning a day of healthy eating. Other topics that will be addressed include vegetarianism, organic foods, eating well on a budget, nutrition for active people and athletes and healthy weight.
